Baked beans is certainly one of America's favorite side dishes. Making baked beans completely from scratch can be time consuming and more work than you bargained for. That's why I came up with this recipe that uses canned beans as a starter, and it dramatically reduces the work involved. The result is thick, rich, and sweet baked beans that your family will love!

This recipe makes enough beans to fill a 4-quart crock pot. I will usually make the whole batch and then freeze it in meal size portions.

1 large sweet or vidalia onion, chopped
3 Tbsp real butter
3 - 28 oz. cans of Bush's Original Baked Beans
3 Tbsp Ketchup
2 Tbsp Mustard
15 slices of cooked bacon, cut in pieces
4 to 5 Tbsp brown sugar, or to taste
4 Tbsp molasses

Saute the onions in the butter until translucent. Put all ingredients in a crock pot and cook on high for 3-4 hours. Enjoy!
