Go Fish !

A great many of SWFL's residents look forward to the weekend as it brings the possible opportunity for some good fishing. Regardless of where your favorite hot spot lies, great fishing is a primary reason that many people come to southwest Florida.

Most anglers realize that a freshwater fishing license is required for this activity. Unfortunately, because of this fact and despite the very nominal cost, a lot of persons simply choose to just do otherwise, missing out on what is a great recreational pasttime.


Over the weekend of April 4th through 6th, The Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is offering a Free Fishing Weekend, looking to hook the ones who got away !

Because the FWC depends on revenues from the sale of fishing licenses for maintaining Florida's fishery resources ( as well as supporting the many affiliated agencies, boat ramps, and marine biologists all associated with maintaining Florida's fishing industries ), they want more persons to become active fisherman !

Well, this weekend is a fishing free-for-all. so if you qualify as a resident of Florida, having lived here at least six months, you're eligible to take advantage of the fun !

After this weekend, do remember that unless you're a Florida resident 65 or older, or younger than 16 years of age, ( or any of several other possible exemption exceptions you can find out about on the FWC website ), a freshwater fishing license is required for fishing in Florida.

So go ahead and hit the waterways, and have a great time ! We know they're biting !
