The Importance of Protein in Your Diet.
Since the beginning of time, protein has been one of the most important
macro nutrients in the human diet. Protein is an important part of every
cell in our bodies. Hair, skin and, of course, all muscle tissue is made
up of mostly proteins.
Unlike fats and carbohydrates, the human body has no storage for protein. This makes supplying the body with an adequate amount every few hours a necessity in order to properly repair and build new tissue. Protein is a lot less likely to be stored as body fat than carbohydrates, dietary lipids or fats.
A simple approach for anyone physically active looking to get in better shape in the coming months is this:
- Make a protein source the base of every meal
- A whey protein shake from a shaker cup with cold water can be supplemented as a meal and it's fat free or close with very low carbohydrates
- Protein shakes can be enjoyed daily to fill in for times when a meal might not be practical.
- An active to moderately active individual should be getting (minimally) 1gram of protein per one pound of body weight for proper cell repair and healing of broken down tissues from working out.
- Protein will NOT make you fat and is a great product for women looking to get more tone muscles and lose excess body fat and water.
So, next time you're at the vitamin and supplement store, don't be afraid to pick-up a bucket of your favorite flavor protein powder and give it a try. If may get you looking and feeling better than ever before!
