Showdown ? You Bet !
As America moved westward during the Gold Rush years, that migration saw a lot of what has come to be known as "frontier justice". Most often, bands of renegades would be hunted down and hanged for crimes of murder and other heinous acts. If two gunfighters had a dispute, they would, often, choose pistols for a duel !As we move closer to the Republican and Democratic National Conventions, we can see a battle shaping up. It's likely to be one of our nation's most derisive battles. With so much of our nation's future success at stake, the coming General Election in November promises to be nothing short of a showdown !
People get tired of government that pays lip service to the public, but chooses to further it's own initiatives. Maybe that explains why the coming election is so important to Americans ? In our country, people realize that real change is necessary in order to revitalize our economy and end the present recession.
Because neither presumptive nominee has chosen a running mate doesn't help put a lid on the national unrest. It's probably fair to presume that most Americans want a leader in Washington that will deliver on their campaign promises. Of course, for that to take place, whoever is elected will need to face the responsibility of being President very seriously. Why ? Because the very basis of our government's functionality will need some significant change in order to assure that big business and special interests don't overly influence our legislator's decision making processes.
Having seen an abundance of career politicians in our history, Americans need to find a bright, energetic and idealistic individual who is willing to place our country's needs before their party affiliation.
While the mud-slinging heats up, I hope that Americans will vote their conscience and avoid straight party ticket voting. As to whether or not we elect one party's candidate over another is unimportant. The most important facet of the soon-to-be-elected Commander-in-Chief is a willingness to not attempt to carry on any business that even remotely resembles "business as usual".
Let's face it...Washington is broken. I believe that it is the civic responsibility of every good American to go to the polls on November 2nd and attempt to fix it. If enough of us are ready to commit to just do that, we will see effective new leadership start to take place as of November 3rd.
See You at the Polls !
