Because southwest Florida is a waterfront paradise, we attract boaters to our area year-round. Interest in our waterways by all types of boaters is continuous. While many southwest Florida boaters are able to live waterfront or on a canal with their boats, just as many others do not. For those residents to get on the water, they have to launch their boats, and that brings up another issue.
Cape Coral is a city comprised of more than 400 miles of canals and waterways where residents have five public boat ramps for their usage. Our waterways and canals are overseen by the Marine Services Division of the Parks & Recreation Department. Boaters can access these waterways via the following five public boat ramps. They are the BMX Park Boat Ramp, The Burnt Store Boat Ramp, The Horton Park Boat Ramp, Rosen Park and The Yacht Club Boat Ramp in the southeast Cape.
The BMX Park Boat Ramp provides access to the fresh water canal system south of Pine Island Road, which includes several lakes to the Northeast and to the South.
Providing access to the Matlacha Pass, the Gulf of Mexico and the North West Spreader canal and lake system is the four and one half acre facility at The Burnt Store Marina.
The Horton Park and Boat Ramp is a saltwater facility providing access to our waterways directly from the Caloosahatchee River. The park there offers fantastic views and picnic shelters are available by reservation.
Cape Coral's newest public boat launch facility is at Rosen Park. Each of their two boat ramps is 30' wide x 60' long. There are also 57 boat trailer parking spots plus 31 additional vehicle parking spaces, capable of accommodating many visitors.Located on the Chantry Canal, Rosen Park is also a saltwater facility that has 19 wet boat slips designed to handle boats up to 40 feet in length.
Only 5.5 miles from the Sanibel Causway is Cape Coral's Yacht Club Community Park and boat ramp. With ample parking and amenities, the launch at the Yacht Club is many residents favorite.
If you're brand new to southwest Florida waterways, a refresher course on Boating Rules and Safety is never a bad idea. The Cape Coral Power Squadron or the Coast Guard Auxiliary as well as the Cape Coral Yacht Club offer courses, seminars and inspection workshops for boaters. It is worth noting that each of these ramps have a $10.00 per day boat trailer parking fee that helps the city to properly maintain the facilities. The City of Cape Coral sells annual parking passes for $50.00 for the regular boater and fisherman.
So if you've been looking for where to launch your boat in Cape Coral, hopefully these choices will expand your options. In either case, enjoy our waterways safely.
