Do You Realize the Difference You Make when You Recycle?

4000 YEARS.....

Thats how long it takes a glass bottle to decompose in a landfill, but can be recycled indefinitely!
When I was a kid, we used to go to the dump every Saturday. We lived in a very small town and this landfill seemed so huge to us. That is until (over the course of just a few
years) that huge hole in the ground not only got smaller, but completely filled with a foul smell that lingered far down the road leading into the landfill and beyond! Pretty soon,
even as a small child, I wondered where they would dig another hole for all of the garbage of our small town. That was the start of my concern and love of recycling.
About 60% of garbage thrown away today can be recycled. It only takes a couple extra seconds to rince a can or glass jar and throw it in our recycling bins. It takes on
average 60 days for an aluminum can to be used and recycled into another can. Can you imagine how many big holes in our earth would be filled with such rubbish..
eventually humans and animals would run out of land space to live!
I am only one person and I can only do my part to help preserve our Mother Earth. It's the only Earth we have. Imagine the difference we can make if every person
did their part, even if it is just a small part. Cape Coral has a great recycling system going on with brand new huge containers that will hold about 60 lbs of garbage
that can be recycled! (More if you flatten cans and plastic items).
The bottom line is that it`s our planet and our responsibility to REDUCE...REUSE...AND RECYCLE! :)
